Opinion from Our Donors

Alokayon’s Role in Poverty Alleviation is Commendable

I am delighted to learn that Alokayon is going to publish a commemorative souvenir. The organization has undertaken various programs for the welfare of underprivileged members of society. It continues to carry out social welfare activities—such as support for education, medical assistance, allowances for the elderly and widows, and employment generation—solely for the pleasure of Almighty Allah.

Numerous verses of the Holy Qur’an and countless Hadiths of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) repeatedly emphasize the importance of coming forward to assist the helpless and disadvantaged in society. The Chairman has informed me that Alokayon is implementing its activities with the intention of fulfilling these divine directives.

We once plunged into the War of Independence, sacrificing our lives to free ourselves from the oppression and exploitation of Pakistan. Yet, even after 54 years of independence, our cherished aspirations have not been fully realized. The country has progressed significantly; compared to the past, GDP growth has increased, and per capita income has risen. However, many people still live below the poverty line. Many remain deprived of basic necessities such as food, clothing, shelter, education, and healthcare. A glance at the people living on the footpaths of Dhaka, at railway and bus stations, and in the makeshift slums scattered across the city makes it evident how distressing their lives are.

Within its limited capacity, Alokayon continues to work for the welfare of these unfortunate and marginalized individuals. Observing the transparency and accountability in its operations, I have been inspired to become associated with the organization.

As a proud citizen of this country, I earnestly urge socially conscious individuals to join hands with Alokayon, according to their means, in serving the underprivileged and contributing to their welfare.

May the Activities of Alokayon Expand Further

I am delighted to learn that Alokayon is going to publish a publication. Masha’Allah, Alokayon is a non-political and non-profit social welfare organization. Owing to my long-standing acquaintance with the Chairan of Chairan, I have had the opportunity to learn about its activities and mission.

The primary objective of this organization is to serve the extremely poor and underprivileged members of society. Its initiatives are not driven by any worldly gain; rather, they are dedicated to the welfare of humanity and the pursuit of eternal salvation in the Hereafter. Observing the transparency and sincerity of its activities, I have been inspired to associate myself with Alokayon.

Individually, with limited resources, it is often difficult to serve disadvantaged people in a meaningful way. However, collective efforts create far greater opportunities to extend support. Alokayon is striving to accomplish exactly that.

Let us join hands with Alokayon and come forward to support the underprivileged.

May Alokayon become more dynamic, and may its activities expand further for the welfare of those in need. This remains my sincere hope and expectation.

How I Became Associated with Alokayon

For a long time, I had been contemplating whether something meaningful could be done for the welfare of underprivileged members of society—particularly orphans, widows, persons with disabilities, and helpless elderly individuals. One morning, during my regular exercise at Ramna Park, I had a conversation with my exercise companion, Mr. Fazlul Kader.

During our discussion, he informed me about his initiative to establish a charity organization aimed at assisting neglected and disadvantaged people in society, and he invited me to become involved. He further mentioned that, following a satisfactory report from the relevant intelligence authorities, the organization had been officially registered under the name “Alokayon” with the Department of Social Services, under the Ministry of Social Welfare of Bangladesh.

As the organization is non-political and non-profit in nature, and having received official government recognition, I decided to associate myself with it. Alokayon contributes to poverty alleviation through the promotion of education, provision of healthcare services, distribution of allowances to the elderly, and support for income-generating activities by providing cows, goats, ducks, chickens, and sewing machines to capable men and women.

I also learned that Alokayon has launched a program titled “Alokayon Pathshala” to provide education to street children and underprivileged children living in the slums of Dhaka. Undoubtedly, this is a commendable initiative.

From the United States, I continue to support Alokayon by contributing financially on a monthly basis and offering guidance and advice.

Let us join hands with Alokayon and stand beside the underprivileged.

Alokayon’s Role in Building an Enlightened Society is Commendable

I came to learn about the activities of Alokayon from my former colleague, Dr. Mahmud Hossain. Dr. Mahmud is a principled and sincere individual. I have never seen him compromise with falsehood. Therefore, when he proposed that I become associated with Alokayon, I decided—without hesitation—to join the organization.

Subsequently, I had the opportunity to meet the Founder Chairman of Alokayon, Mr. Fazlul Kader. He explained in detail the organization’s activities and highlighted the importance and necessity of extending support, according to one’s ability, to underprivileged members of society. His initiative is not motivated by any worldly interest; rather, it is inspired by a sense of accountability in the Hereafter and a sincere commitment to serve disadvantaged people.

Each year, we fulfill our obligation of paying zakat. However, we often remain unaware of how and where our zakat contributions are utilized. Observing the transparency and accountability of Alokayon’s activities, I felt assured that my zakat and donations would be properly utilized through this organization and would genuinely benefit those who are truly underprivileged and in need.

Recently, Alokayon launched an educational initiative named “Alokayon Pathshala” for children deprived of education in Rasulpur Slum, Tejgaon. This is undoubtedly a commendable effort to bring the light of education to disadvantaged children who would otherwise remain excluded.

I feel proud to be associated with Alokayon. I would sincerely encourage those who are motivated not by worldly gains but by the desire for eternal reward and social responsibility to join Alokayon in supporting the underprivileged members of our society.

Let Alokayon Charity spread more light in the society

I am happy to know that Alokayon is publishing a memoir. Social service or charitable work is a responsibility for the capable, not an optional mercy expecting any return. Because all immovable and immovable wealth and even acquired knowledge are the mercy and grace given by ALLAH SWT. Everyone should fulfill this responsibility by distributing a part of the mercy received from Him among the helpless in the society; it is a sacred duty prescribed by ALLAH for every capable Muslim. Despite the limitations of my beloved Fazlul Quader’s wealth and ability, he was driven by this responsibility from a young age and focused on social service. Without causing any hindrance to his official work, he devoted himself to serving the helpless people of the society. Through discussions with me, I had the opportunity to know the beginning of his journey and I have provided moral support and encouragement to him in this great work. Today I know that his journey has not only begun, but his tireless efforts have institutionalized his activities through registration with the Department of Social Services of the Government of Bangladesh. I have also been involved in this great work . Many others with the same attitude person have been involved in his activities. May the activities of Alokayan be more dynamic and successful. May others, especially the capable, be more inspired by this example and come forward. I pray that Alokayan sheds more light in the society.

My Co-ordination With Alokayon Charity

The founding chairman of Alokayan, Mr. Fazlul Quader Bhai, was my husband’s colleague. My husband loved him like a younger brother. When my husband was alive, he used to visit our house in Uttara, Dhaka. Currently, I live in America with my son and daughter. We have regular contact with him even from far away America. One day, during a telephone conversation, he told me about the formation of a non-profit and political organization called Alokayan (A non political and non profitable organization to serve the orphan and needy family) for the welfare of the deprived people in the country and requested me to cooperate in that great work. The said service-oriented organization also received the approval of the Social Welfare Department of the Government of Bangladesh in 2019. Recently, free reading and writing facilities have been provided for children living in Sattala and Rasulbag slums of Mohakhali under Tejgaon police station in Dhaka. NGOs in our country are implementing many educational programs informally, but in a country with a 95% Muslim majority, there is no program for Arabic education. He also told me that a Quran Hafiz has been appointed in the school run by Alokayan and Arabic and moral education has been provided. I think it is a commendable initiative to provide education to these children who are deprived of the light of education.

We like the service work undertaken by Alokayan for the welfare of the helpless people. Those who are capable should come forward for the disadvantaged people in the society. Therefore, my children and I have been financially supporting Alokayan every year by giving Zakat and donations to the fund according to our ability. At the same time, I request those who are capable to come forward.

I wish success to Alokayan’s activities for the welfare of the disadvantaged people.

Welcome ALOKAYON for it's Noble Activities

I have known about Alokayon from my Bangladeshi classmate Tasnimul Hasan Nehal Phd student of King Fahad Mineral and Petroleum University, Dammam, KSA. As I known from Nehal my thoughts regarding Alokayon. I would like to start with how Bangladesh is now changing and moving towards a new future. But in this race of moving forward, we often forget the underprivileged and the backward classes. Allah has ordained us to support orphans, widows and the underprivileged.

So it is our duty to do whatever we can to help them. In doing this great task, one expects trust before donating their hard earned income. Alokayon and their founders have this trustworthy reputation that even if I am in a different country, I know that I can trust this foundation and the people behind it. The immense help and support they provide for widows and orphans, and also their contributions towards Ilm e Deen, teaching these backward classes about Islam and spreading the word of God is a rare feature in these times of greed and selfishness.

As a proud follower of Islam, it is our moral duty and social obligation to play active role to make underprivileged person able to become self-dependent in the society.

Let’s support Alokayon Chairity by financial assistance and advice. Your support will be useful for the welfare of your deceased parents, relatives and yourself in this world and the hereafter, Insha Allah Ameen.
